Boston Museum of Science Wedding // Jen & Steve

Jen was bartending one night a week at a restaurant near Steve’s old house and the he used to frequently visit with his friends. She became friendly with their group of guys and after a while started to get a feeling that Steve may have had a crush on her. One day on her night off, Jen ventured into the bar, spotted Steve, and decided to take the reins and started chatting him up. Unfortunately, just a few days after breaking the ice with Steve, Jen’s uncle had unexpectedly passed away. Steve called Jen every day after that to check in on her and make sure she was okay. A week later they went on their first date and have been together ever since.

When Steve decided he wanted to propose, he took Jen to NYC and planned an amazing weekend exploring the city. She had a feeling that he might propose on the trip, but by Sunday when they got to Rockefeller Center, she had given up hope that this trip was when it would happen since they had already done and seen so much. As they were finishing taking in the spectacular skyline views at the Top of the Rock they decided to head back down the elevator when she felt a tug on her hand. When she turned around, Steve was on one knee and asked her to spend forever with him as the other people on the viewing deck cheered out in joy.

Fast forward a few months later, Jen reached out to me to photograph her wedding after she seeing photos we captured for her cousin Sarah’s Capecod Wedding last fall. I remember getting her email and being SUPER excited because she said she works for one of my favorite places in the world – TJ Maxx, of course (Literally, I don’t think I can go in there and walk out without spending less than $50 – self control just doesn’t exist in that store). I became even more excited when she told me she booked her wedding at one of my DREAM venues to photograph at – the Museum of Science right in downtown Cambridge Massachusetts. Besides being one of the coolest venues in all of New England, it is located right along the Charles River and has beautiful views of the Boston Skyline! Plus there are a ton of hotels within walking distance which is amazing because they are have the best open bar prices compared to all the other venues within the city. Unfortunately I personally was already booked on her wedding date, but my amazing associate photographer, Nicole was able to be there to capture all of this magic.

Jen being the fashionista that she is wore two beautiful dresses for her wedding day – both were from two of my favorite dress designers. Her first ball gown dress was designed by the magical unicorn that is Hayley Paige and the second was a beautiful form fitting lace dress from BLDN. The boy wore black tuxes and the girls had gorgeous burgundy dresses which made the ivory floral bouquets with light peach David Austin roses pop against them. Jen incorporated touches of burgundy in the florals on the tables under the tent at the museum and had rose gold metallic accents to tie everything together. She decided to use traditional up lights and white voile draping from the ceiling inside the tent to create a little ambiance.

Jen & Steve decided to do a first look around the luscious green grounds of Wellesley College. Steve was awestruck when he saw Jen in her dress for the first time – it was adorable! We then were able to take all family and wedding party photos before heading to the church so that they could enjoy their cocktail hour with their friends and family. After they promised to spend a life time loving each other, we all headed to the Museum of Science to begin the celebration and dancing. Before cocktail hour started, we were able to go into the museums exhibits and take some epic portraits with some seriously stellar – literally there’s a photo of a spaceship, a sun, and the earth – in the back ground – OH and did I mention a dinosaur, like who doesn’t want a photo with a dinosaur on their wedding day!

Jen & Steve – Thank you so much for trusting me and Nicole to capture your day! We hope you had the BEST time relaxing and enjoying Hawaii!
