Wequasett Resort Wedding
Lizzy & Chris’s wedding at Wequasett Resort in Capecod was something out of a dream. It has taken me three weeks to write this blog post because it is hard to put into words and describe the beauty, the detail, the amazing people that made this day so very special.
I asked Lizzy to describe her wedding day to me and she said, ” I am going for super glamorous, moody, regal, lots of candle light. That is how I want everything to look, but my vision for the day is for everyone to be having an amazing time, celebrating, drinking, dancing, and never wanting the night to end.” And trust me when I say, none of us who were honored enough to be in attendance wanted it to end either.
Lizzy and Chris chose to host their wedding on Cape Cod because Lizzy grew up going up to her families cape house and Chris also took many family vacations there. The Cape holds a special place in both of their hearts because they spend a lot of time with their families there. it is where we spent family time. We chose Wequassett because of the views, the amazing cocktail hour space, the gorgeous landscaping and outdoor space. And again, once we got to the resort our jaws dropped looking at the beauty – stunning rose gardens, open ocean views, gorgeous outdoor patios – this Cape Cod wedding venue alone was a photographer’s dreams – but then Jillian from Beach Plum floral transformed the space into Lizzy’s vision of moody glamour beyond any of our wildest dreams.
She decorated the dining tables with golden, black and velvet skulls paired with unique autumn florals and black candles. The table that held the seating cards was draped with a jade green cloth wit made the golden skulls with butterflies and the black seating cards with a custom wax modeling on them pop! The seating table was also adorned with tons of candle votives – both black, gold, and elegant skulls.
Lizzy said the most anticipated part of their day is the moment they first see each other at their first look because Chris has heard everything but NOTHING about the gold dress. And after seeing the dress in person, I totally understand why. The dress was custom made for Lizzy because she had tried on tons of white dresses and just didn’t feel like they were her style. She’s the kind of girl who likes to make a statement with what she wears and her wedding day was no exception. Lizzy put so much trust into her vendors that day that she never saw (never mind tried on) her custom gold wedding dress until a month before her wedding. For months all she had was a sketch and trust in Stephen and he truly made her vision come to life. Lizzy also was able to get a matching gold dress for her dog, Belle – which was insanely adorable. After Lizzy & Chris’s first look they decided to do a first look with their Chihuahua babies and it was as cute as you can imagine.
One of my other favorite moments from the day was during the reception when the band went on break and suddenly Lizzy who is an Irish step dancing teacher, decided to step dance in her 30 pound custom gold dress. I truly hope those video go viral on YouTube because it was unreal to see in person.
To those reading this blog post and looking at these images while planning your wedding, my advice to you is to TRUST the vendors you hire. Wedding planning takes months and can be stressful AF. But when the day finally arrives, there is nothing more beautiful than watching a couple just immerse themselves in their day with their friends and family. And that is exactly what Lizzy and Chris did. They weren’t concerned with placement of florals or candles, Lizzy wasn’t worried her makeup wouldn’t last, they didn’t question any of the photo locations – even if they were in a parking lot.
Lizzy and Chris – I cannot thank you both enough for that trust and for choosing me to document your day. You both are such wonderful people and I am looking forward to possibly crashing your honeymoon in South Africa to take photos of the both of you in the wild with your dress and tux <3 🙂 Photography: Alexsandra Wiciel Photography
